Rangers flew out the traps at Ibrox on Sunday, with three goals in nine first-half minutes putting the game beyond their opponents before the break.
Clement's side took the lead in the 16th minute when Hamza Igamane turned Mohamed Diomande's cutback beyond Andy Fisher for his eighth league goal of the season.
Vaclav Cerny then prodded home the hosts' second four minutes later after being brilliantly picked out by Danilo, before Diomande nodded Rangers further ahead.
St. Johnstone, however, reduced the deficit nine minutes after the break with the first effort on target as Jack Sanders headed Maksym Kucheriavyi's inswinging corner home.

Clement was left frustrated by his side's display in the second half, and is looking to see improvements ahead of facing Aberdeen in their next league encounter.
"I wanted more in the second half than we gave. There is a lot of potential to make things better. We lost some fluidity in our attacking part," Clement told BBC Scotland.
In the first match, Haryana thrashed Rajasthan 6-1. Rohit Rana (2nd minute), Sunil Maan (11th), Sahil Ruhal (17th) and Ami Khasa (60th) scored one goal each, while Navraj Singh (7th, 37th) struck a brace for Haryana.
"In the first half, there were a lot of good actions, good goals. There are a lot of positives in the group getting better and better - it's getting consistency in the away games.
"It's always about the next game. I will guide them towards the next game to win against Aberdeen - never a guarantee."
